Neeraj Chopra makes history, becoming the first Indian to win the Diamond League
Olympic javelin champion Neeraj Chopra on Friday made history by becoming the first Indian to win a title at a Diamond League meet by winning the Lausanne leg here.
The 24-year-old Chopra, who pulled out of the Birmingham Games due to a "minor" groin injury sustained while winning silver at the World Championships last month, threw the javelin in his first attempt at 89.08m to seal the win in style.
Chopra rested and rehabbed for a month, but it looked like the injury didn't happen at all as he continued his historic form. The throw of 89.08m was his third career best. His second throw measured 85.18m before passing on his third attempt.
