Marseille's Champions League future looks bleak after Eintracht defeat.

Marseille, France: Olympique de Marseille suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday when they suffered their second loss in as many games.

Europa League champions Eintracht were third in Group D with three points thanks to Jesper Lindström's goal.

Sporting are six points at the top after beating second-placed Tottenham Hotspur 2-0. Marseille next host Sporting while Tottenham will travel to Frankfurt on 4 October for the next round.

Marseille enjoyed possession and dominated the first half until Valentin Rongier miscued a cross in the box and Lindström fired wide two minutes before the break.

The hosts were forced to threaten in the second half and Eintracht came close to doubling their advantage when Lindström's corner volley smashed over the bar at the end of a quick counter-attack.

Dimitri Paye, who was given a rare start by coach Igor Tudor, was replaced in time, while Alexis Sánchez, Cengiz Ander and Luis Suárez came in.

Although the changed OM was pressed into action, Rongier sat down in the 66th minute as the French team came under pressure.

He stuck his foot in the area and missed another golden opportunity.

Frankfurt also continued to threaten and Daiichi Kamada launched another counter-attack after an offside shot to end Marseille's one-point hopes. But with six wins and one draw in Ligue 1, they have been lacking form, and are considering the difference between Europe's premium club competition.
